Cornell Team selected for the 2024 Cornell Case Competition for Family Ownership

The team that will represent Cornell has been selected through an internal competition, with the winning team consisting of Rebecca Shao, MPS ’24, Mia Huang, PhD ’23, and Vanessa Wang, MPS ’24. Congratulations team, and good luck!

Rebecca is currently enrolled in the M.P.S. in Management program with a specialization in Consulting & Strategy at Cornell University. She went straight into this program after completing her undergraduate study at Lehigh University with a major in Finance and minors in Applied Math and Business Analytics. Rebecca is actively leading one of the InSITE fellowship projects (a consulting & VC fellow program) and participating as an associate at the Cornell Graduate Consulting Club (CGCC). Rebecca has a passion for making new friends and learning new languages because she has experienced Chinese, British, West, and East American cultures in her life. During her spare time, she finds joy in cooking, horseback riding, reading, and exploring new destinations through travel. She received a level 8 equestrianism certificate issued by the German Equestrian Club in high school.

Mia Huang, PhD ’23

Mia is currently a 4th year PhD candidate studying Biomedical Engineering at Cornell University. Mia did her undergraduate study at Case Western Reserve University majoring in biomedical engineering and joined Cornell’s BME PhD program after graduation. Her research focuses on biomechanics and bone mechanobiology, with a focus on Osteoporosis and the effect of mechanical stimuli on bone remodeling, morphology, and cell signaling pathways. Outside of the lab, Mia is participating in several organizations with leadership roles. She is the co-president of the InSITE fellowship (consulting & VC fellow program) and senior associate at Cornell Graduate Consulting Club (CGCC). She has made significant contributions to the scientific communication committee at the Orthopedic Research Society and the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research UGP cohort. In her free time, Mia loves playing piano and cello, skiing, horseback riding, golfing, and painting.

Vanessa is a first-year student enrolled in the M.P.S. in Management program at Cornell University. She did her bachelor’s degree at Brandeis University with a major in Economics and a minor in Mathematics. Vanessa is currently an associate at the Cornell Graduate Consulting Club (CGCC) working with the company Recoup Wellness. She is outgoing and enjoys learning new things. Vanessa is a pro tennis player since middle school and played singles on the varsity team during high school. She was also a member of Brandeis Equestrian and represented the school to compete with other universities in the Boston area.
